A friend from home, Kageyama is a person that Teru can trust unconditionally - even if he's seen Kageyama's "darker", unknown self. Kageyama is awkward, quiet, but kind... and it's a kindness he wishes to emulate, himself. Teru sees himself as Kageyama's rival, even if the raw power difference between them seems insurmountable; he believes that he will someday be able to match Kageyama's strength, and he will be able to stand against him someday again. Despite wanting to measure himself against Kageyama, Teru only wants the best for him... he is, after all, one of the few genuine friendships Teru has ever had in his life.

The android 9S is endearing to Teru, and honestly, they're a perfect duo: 9S loves learning about human beings, and Teru just loves talking about himself. Teru doesn't hold any malicious or ill will towards 9S and has no problem considering the troubled android a friend, even if he doesn't really comprehend the sort of identity crisis any of them are experiencing.

Teru's relationship with 2B is similar to his relationship to 9S; the core difference is that 2B is not as doggedly interested in learning about humans as 9S is and is instead more stoic. That doesn't dissuade Teru from sharing what he knows with her as well, either, and her proficiency with battle also doesn't prevent him from promising to help her if she's ever in danger. Teru merely enjoys playing the mentor role here, and the idea of being UNABLE to defend oneself rubs him just the wrong way.

Now, Teru usually considers himself a fairly friendly and trusting young man. But Aqua managed to completely throw him off with an act of generosity that was so abrupt and out of nowhere that he simply couldn't trust it. He leered at her warily at first, but learned soon enough that Aqua... simply doesn't have a good context for the real world. She's funny, maybe a bit pitiable - he's no longer suspicious of her, though he doesn't really have respect for her just yet.

The princess from another world seems kind and friendly enough! Teru is rather fond of her good natured cheer, and regrets not going to the house warming party like he wanted to.
